A Star is Born June  20 and 21

ACT I's twenty-ninth season opens this weekend when A Broadway musical revue hits the stage in Van Horne this weekend as Second Stage! and Camp Creamery present A Star is Born. The show will be performed by 33 area students, ages 7 – 14, as part of the ACT I Stage! summer theatre program.

Performances are Friday and Saturday night at 7:00 pm in the Benton Community High School auditorium and are appropriate for all audiences. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and seniors. All tickets may be purchased at the door. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Second Stage! summer theatre camp began in Van Horne in 2004 as the ACT I Stage! program expanded to host two camps for kids. Stage! One performs in Vinton and Second Stage! serves the communities of southern Benton County. This year, three professional actors from the Old Creamery Theatre Company of Amana are working with Second Stage! campers to teach stage skills and nine different show-stopping tunes, complete with dialogue and dance for the musical extravaganza A Star is Born.  The is the second year for ACT I to host Camp Creamery; last year we had the pleasure of hosting the very first Camp Creamery production when our Stage One Summer Camp worked with the Creamery actors to produce Kids' Kabaret.  This year Camp Creamery has expanded to many more communities for their summer productions.

The cast for A Star is Born includes Allison Jensen, Amanda Goodsell, Anna Hagen, Annika Rader, Aspen Auld, Bennett Gorkow, Carter Hayden, Cassidy Nulty, Colin Hurley, Dana Schmuecker, Dezi Bridgewater, Ellen Horst, Emily Meeks, Gracie Jurgens, Hannah Miller, Kaelyn Knaack, Kaile Franzenburg, Kaitlyn Wells, Karly Hagen, Karly Miner, Kristin Jensen, Macy Miner, Madison Knaack, Maxwell Tiedemann, Meisha Lamb-Bell, Mikayla Mason, Moriah Gandia, Moriah Niebuhr, Paige Namanny, Patrick Gorkow, Stuart Tiedemann, Taylor Gage, Taylor Hayden.

Coordinating the production for the Old Creamery Theatre is Jackie Wynes, Director of Education for the Old Creamery; and by veteran ACT I Director Mary Horst, director of Second Stage Summer Camp.
